Outdoor Learning
We believe children flourish when their young minds are immersed in nature. We are incredibly proud of our Forest School provision, which gives children regular opportunities to learn and explore in a natural environment.
Our beautiful rural setting offers rich outdoor learning every day. We have invested heavily in our on site Forest School facilities, which include a purpose-built outdoor classroom, a roundhouse for group activities, a mud kitchen and even a compost toilet - all designed to support sustainable learning outdoors.
Beyond the school grounds, all children from Years 1-6 take part in additional off-site Forest School sessions that build confidence, independence and a love of nature through hands-on woodland and survival experiences. Sessions take place throughout the year, in all weathers, allowing children to build a strong connection with nature and develop a wide range of practical and personal skills. Children take part in activities such as den building, tool use, fire lighting, natural traditional crafts and storytelling, all within a safe, supportive and stimulating environment.
Forest School is about much more than outdoor play; it’s about giving children time and space to explore, reflect and grow. Whether they’re quietly observing wildlife, problem-solving with friends, or simply enjoying the freedom of being outside, learning outdoors helps our children become more confident, calm and connected - not just to nature, but to themselves and each other.
