At Tealby School we place a high value on healthy eating and encourage all children to enjoy a freshly prepared school lunch. Lunchtimes are an important part of the day - not just for refuelling after a busy morning, but also for giving children the chance to socialise, share meals together and practise good manners.

Our lunches are prepared and delivered by Ideal Meals, who prepare tasty and nutritious dishes each day using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The menus are carefully balanced to give children plenty of variety while supporting them to build positive, lifelong eating habits.

Through the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme, all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free cooked lunch each day. We strongly encourage families to take up this opportunity, as it ensures every child has access to a healthy meal.

For pupils in Key Stage 2, there is a small charge for meals. Parents can order meals quickly and easily through the Ideal Meals Online Booking System, where menus are published in advance. The system allows you to select meals for the days your child will be having a school lunch and to check dietary information if needed.

If you are in receipt of certain benefits, your child may be entitled to Free School Meals. Applications can be completed online using the Free School Meal Application Form. If you need any support with the process, please contact the school office - we’re always happy to help.
